Call for Papers_____________________________________________________
It is an undeniable fact that
Shakespeare is a colossal presence in the field of English
literature. An immense body of research work on Shakespeare
already exists; yet, the Bard continues to engage our
attention. In the expansive universe of Shakespeare, scholars
- that is philosophers, visionaries, poets, lovers,
power-wielders and fools - command a significant presence. It
would be rewarding to study, investigate and discuss the role
of these intellectuals not only in the social, political,
economic and moral order of their times but also their
relevance in contemporary postmodern context. The postmodern
gaze, ‘certain of its uncertainty’, mistrusting information
and knowledge, echoes many characters and ideas drawn by
Shakespeare. Thus, for many his plays are plausible precursors
of postmodernism and therefore, it would be interesting to
explore Shakespeare against this backdrop. Papers,
presentations, and pre-formed panels that deal with any and
all of the related topics are welcome. |
